Finding a photographer for her wedding is just one of the many things that a bride plans for before her big day. That coupled with the right venue for the ceremony and the reception makes for a day that is exactly how she envisioned it to be. Imagine how excited I was to hear that this bride chose a ceremony at Mill Race Village in Northville followed by a reception at Cantoro’s Italian market. However, there was one thing that she did not envision , no matter how perfectly she laid out the plans.
There was supposed to be a sunset wedding outside this beautiful house at the Mill Race Village…

It was looking like a perfect day for an outdoor wedding but then the rain came right when we arrived. I thought she was going to get frazzled or upset but she handled it with a lot of grace and sweet smile.

Luckily for them, theres this lovely little church as the backup plan in weather emergencies such as these. When I first opened the doors I thought that it spoke to the simple elegance that they carry as a couple.

I usually like to spend some time with couples before jumping into their wedding so I can get a feel for their chemistry. In this case though, this lovely couple was traveling to Michigan for their wedding so the first time I saw them together was an hour before their ceremony started. I had to get right to shooting the event so I didn’t have a lot of time to pinpoint what their love for each other looked like.
I thought I would feel it when they said their vows because it was easy to see that they had a special connection all their own.

But it wasn’t until later when I got to sit back and watch them that I saw what their love looked like & see how they showed it.
It was in the way they talked to each other like no one else was in the room.

It was in the way he looked at her just after their ‘first look’ .

It was how they laughed together.

It was inside their sweet , sweet son.

With a love like that, a love all their own there’s no wonder they handled the rain with style and grace. Congratulations to Donnie & Heather , It’s clear to see your love is built to handle any storm.
